Since the 1960’s, Lakeview has strived “to be the church” on the corner of 22 Avenue South and 13 Street. Following the teachings of Micah, we have practiced justice, love, and kindness to become a living translation of Jesus Christ. Lakeview became a Matthew 25 congregation in 2019 and continues to be the church in the community. We recognize Christ’s urgent call to be a church of action. We have acted boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. We have not done enough. We pledge to dismantle structural racism by advocating and acting to break down the systems, practices and thinking that underlie discrimination, bias, prejudice and oppression of people of color. We pledge to eradicate systemic racism by working to change laws, policies, plans and structures in our society that perpetuate economic exploitation of people of color. We commit to all who cross our paths, no matter what race, religion or sexual orientation, to provide a safe and positive environment that encourages and promotes inclusion and diversity and allows all of God’s children to flourish.
